Michael
J. Lenaghan is a tenured Social
Science and Education faculty member
of the Miami Dade College,
located in Miami, Florida, United
States of America. He also holds
adjunct status at Florida Atlantic
University and serves as a special
adviser to the Universidad Latinoamericana de la Libertad F.
Hayek, located in Southern Florida.
He implements “multiple
intelligences theory” across
disciplines in higher education,
private organizations and civic
groups. He engages students and
colleagues in strategies to master
social science mediated knowledge,
problem solving skills and
“preferred futures” for individuals,
organizations and communities.
Academic, experiential, simulation,
service and cooperative learning
strategies characterize Lenaghan’s
approach to teaching and learning in
the classroom, community,
corporation or private organization.
He implements Model United Nations
simulations within the UNA/USA and
the National Collegiate Conference
Association. He implements the
National Issues Forum methodology of
the Kettering Foundation as
experiential learning. His community
college and university students are
now succeeding in 42 American and 9
international universities, diverse
professions in numerous career
fields and in service and leadership
roles in their communities.
Lenaghan earned a Bachelor of
Science in Foreign Service (BSFS in
International Affairs) and a Master
of Arts (MA in Comparative
Government) at Georgetown University
in Washington, DC. He earned a
certificate of Advanced Graduate
Studies (CAGS in education) and a
Doctorate in Education (Ed.D. in
Administration of Higher Education)
at Virginia Polytechnic Institute
and State University in Blacksburg,
Virginia. He completed post-graduate
studies at Brigham Young University,
Florida State University (Holocaust
Studies Institute and History
Department), Johns Hopkins
University (School of mental Hygiene
and Public Health), Northwestern
University (WK Kellogg School of
Graduate Management), Universidad de
las Americas (MEXICO), University
College-Galway (IRELAND), University
of Miami (College of Education),
University of Michigan (Labor
Relations Center) and the University
of Wisconsin.
Dr. Lenaghan’s professional career
has engaged him in senior

International Movement of Catholic
Students and NGO relations with
ECOSOC at the United Nations (New

the United States Catholic
Conference (DC), National
Association of the Partners of the
Americas (DC), University of the

Headquarters of the American Red
Cross (DC), The Lenaghan Group
(Chevy Chase, MD), American Humanics
Foundation (Kansas City, Missouri)
and Miami-Dade Community College’s
North Campus (FL).
Lenaghan’s civic leadership roles

disability specialties and

Lenaghan fluently communicates in
English and Spanish and works to
communicate in Portuguese, Italian,
French and Russian. He has traveled
and worked throughout the Americas,
Western Europe and Eastern Europe.
Dr. Lenaghan is married to Dr. Donna
Lenaghan, a leader, educator/trainer
and administrator in adult learning
and educational technologies,
director of educational computer
technologies within a private
university.

Lenaghan is the Advisor of the pan
African Student Association of Miami
Dade College, Service for Peace, and
the Miami Dade College Model United
