The Pan African Student Association (PASA)
is an official not-for-profit organization of
Miami Dade College
founded on November 7, 2005 by Michael E. Imasua. Our mission is to facilitate a broad understanding among the community
of the history, societies and cultures of the
African world and to offer constructive analysis
of global issues as it affects Africa and the
Diaspora in the Caribbean and Latin America. Our
goals are: |
|
Ø
To access Pan-Africanist scholarship to apply to
analyses of and engagement with contemporary
social and cultural issues |
|
Ø
To prepare members for the workforce and/or for
upper division and graduate studies in
Pan-African Studies and/or related fields |
|
Ø
To add an inter-cultural dimension to other
academic programs at Miami Dade College |
|
This Organization is sponsored by the
Miami Dade College.
We at PASA belong to a global based curriculum,
infused with learning resources and expeditions;
we provides hands-on, minds-on authentic
learning experiences taking students beyond the
walls of the classroom. We work with a
nationwide network of community-based African
organizations that focus on promoting the
diverse African cultures. |
|
PASA is a center for activism focusing on
conditions in the African World. We sponsor
seminars, campaigns, conferences, community awareness
projects and training programs. These activities
allow us to play a significant role in
presenting to the general public alternative
perspectives on the economic, political, and
moral ramifications of global policy as it
affects Africa and the Diaspora. |
|
At PASA, we attract alliances, build bridges and
promote African cultures; all through citizen
diplomacy. We believe a warm handshake marks the
beginning of a life-long friendship. |
|
The purpose of this website is to make available
a broad online understanding about this
organization and its purpose, goals, members,
and to provide online learning resources. |
